Upgrading to Wordpress 2.6 was easy
I logged on to my blog’s Wordpress dashboard and found a notice that an upgrade to Wordpress engine was available for download. I was just confused that if I download the update and try to install it to my server, whether I will be able to get the configuration data of my present blog including several custom codes that were added to my blog from time to time. However, it seem to me that the update was necessary (and mendatory also because otherwise it will show a warning message on the dashboard’s pages).
So, I quickly turned to the wordpress website and began to look for documentation about the update of the files. There were a large set of instructions for upgrading the blog’s platform. I, however, was looking for a more easier and effecient way of updating the files without hampering the blog’s. It look like a complex work of backing up data, updaing files and then restoring data. I also risk losing some if otherwise happens.
Then I came to know about some plugins that will make the process easier. Among the few similar plugins, I choose the Automatic Upgrade which provided me with a wizard like upgrade procedure. It was easy, though I had to be careful about each instructions the plugin provided.
Now, my platform is updated to the wordpress version 2.6 and it is working fine. I have to take a look at the changelog and then find out the benefits of the updated version. Enjoy!
