Virtualization : How it Benifits You

Depending on the size of the company Virtualization can heavily improve company’s benefits. The company which previously had 200 servers may now use 50 servers having more powerful hardware resources and it makes it easy for the administrators to maintain.

It also reduces cost either of initial investment or of maintaining cost. If 200 servers would require 10 administrators, 50 servers will need only 5; Also fewer computers means less energy consumption, less space requirements etc.

There are other benefits besides server consolidation. Since the movement of a virtual machine can be accomplished in short order, it is possible to minimize planned downtime and ensure better service levels. Virtualization can also be part of a disaster recovery solution.

It will also help using the physical hardware resources more effectively.

Virtualization, like any other things, has some downside, too. It has lesser security which can be overcome if security can be deployed at the network layer. Also, with more requests its performance meter becomes down. However, things will go better soon with Virtualization technology.

Virtualization is certainly here to stay because, it will supplement the smaller companies a greater performance and lesser investments both of which are very important to the small business owners. Like anything else worth doing, you need to take the time to implement virtualization correctly so you receive the maximum benefit.
